Volunteer Opportunities
PrideAlive: Gay/Bisexual Men's Health Education PrideAlive is a program of gay and bisexual men working together to stop the spread of HIV and STDs by creating and sustaining a healthy community. We empower individuals to participate in their health through educational, social, political, and civic involvement. To get involved, call 612-373-2474 or e-mail pridealive@mnaidsproject.org. To learn more about PrideAlive, visit their Web site at www.pridealive.org. Tuesday and Thursday Nighters On the second Tuesday of each month, volunteers meet at MAP to help out with special projects. During busy events seasons, we also add a Thursday Nighter for those who cannot make it on Tuesdays. Our drop-in nights are a great way to help MAP, meet new friends, and learn more about what happens throughout the year. Come when you can, leave when you need to! For current drop-in dates, check our Volunteer Calendar of Events. Volunteer Drivers Volunteer drivers assist MAP's transportation program with providing deliveries from local food shelves and grocery stores. Volunteers are needed to provide at least one ride per month using your own car. Training is provided. This opportunity requires an extended application process including an interview, driver's license check, and criminal background check. Call 612-373-9160 or e-mail volunteer@mnaidsproject.org. Office & Clerical Support Help support MAP staff during daytime hours with data entry, front desk reception, building and grounds maintenance, or other special projects. Both long–term and one–time opportunities may be available in different departments. Certain assignments may require an interview and background check. To learn more, call 612–373–9160 or e–mail volunteer@mnaidsproject.org. The Minnesota AIDS Walk and Run for the Ribbon The MN AIDS Walk is among the oldest and largest AIDS fundraisers in Minnesota, and we’ve added an exciting 10k run for those who like a faster pace! Held on the third Sunday in May each year, it requires hundreds of volunteers to support thousands of walkers, who annually raise badly-needed money to stop HIV in our state. Learn more about the AIDS Walk at www.mnaidswalk.org. Twin Cities GLBT Pride Celebration Join the largest parade in Minneapolis, the Ashley Rukes GLBT Pride Parade! On the last Sunday in June, MAP volunteers march with the Every Penny Counts Emergency Assistance Fund, carrying a giant rainbow flag and collecting cash donations from the crowd. You also can help MAP provide top-notch education and guest hospitality during the festival in Loring Park. To participate, call 612-373-9160 or e-mail volunteer@mnaidsproject.org. Legal Program Attorneys and law students are needed to assist with a variety of legal issues. Call 612-373-2428 or e-mail legal@mnaidsproject.org. Internships Start your professional experience with a volunteer internship at MAP! We offer placement opportunities for students in a wide range of programs to help you complete your academic requirements.
