Syringe Access

The Minnesota AIDS Project conducts outreach and intervention to injecting drug users. Services include:

  • HIV and HCV (hepatitis C) risk assessment
  • Risk reduction education
  • Chemical dependency assessments for substance abuse treatment
  • Referrals for HIV testing and care, basic needs, medical care, and programs serving injecting drug users
  • Access to clean syringes through an incentive program to promote the pharmacy purchase of sterile syringes and through a limited syringe exchange program
